Terms & Conditions


  1. This competition ("the Competition") is conducted USABCO (Pty) Ltd.
  2. The Competition is entered into by sms'ing the unique code on specially marked Addis products to 40299. Each unique code can only be used to enter into the Competition once. The participant is required to purchase the specially-marked Addis product permitting them entry into the Competition before entering the Competition.
  3. This Competition runs from 01/06/2013 - 30/11/2103 and is open to entry by everyone residing in South Africa who is over the age of 18 years old.
  4. No persons who are directors, members, partners, employees or agents of, or consultants to USABCO, its marketing service provider(s) utilised in connection with this Competition, any supplier of goods or services in connection with this Competition, any other person who directly or indirectly controls, or is controlled by, them, or any spouse, life partner, parent, child, brother, sister, business partner or associate of any of such persons, may enter the Competition.
  5. Prizes include
    1. Grand Prize: Trip for 4 to Mauritius within the 6 (Six) month period following the date on which the Grand prize winner is notified of having won same. The Grand Prize consists of:
      1. return economy flights to Mauritius for the prize winner and 3 additional persons from Johannesburg OR Tambo International Airport (including airport taxes) with SAA;
      2. 6 nights’ accommodation at a 3 star hotel and spa (referred to as hotel from here on) for the prize winner and 3 additional persons;
      3. airport transfers to the hotel and back to the airport for the prize winner and 3 additional persons;
      4. access to certain activities offered by the hotel (which may vary depending on which activities the particular hotel offers at the time of stay).
    2. Instant prizes of:
      1. 2165 Pamper treatments, as contemplated more fully below.
      2. 500 Airtime vouchers, as contemplated more fully below.
      3. 1000 6 Month Magazine Subscriptions, as contemplated more fully below.
      4. 500 Activities, as contemplated more fully below.
  6. All prize winners will be required on receipt of the prize, complete and sign an acknowledgment of receipt of such prize.
  7. In the event of a dispute in respect of any aspect of the Competition, USABCO's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  8. By entering the Competition you agree to receive further communication and direct marketing material from USABCO.
  9. To the maximum extent permitted in law, USABCO, its holding or subsidiary companies and its directors, officers, managers, employees, agents and distributors accept no liability whatsoever for the misuse of any prize and are not liable to any person for any injury, claim, loss or damage of any nature whatsoever, whether direct, indirect, consequential or otherwise, as a result of entering into, or arising from any cause whatsoever or howsoever arising from their participation in, this Competition or the use of, or participation in, any prize won there under (any such prizes being utilized or participated in (as the case may be) at the own risk of any winner thereof).
  10. USABCO reserves the right in its reasonable discretion to, to the maximum extent permissible in law, add to or waive any of these Rules, or to cancel the Competition at any stage, in the event of circumstances arising beyond its reasonable control.
  11. Should any prize be unavailable due to circumstances beyond USABCO’s reasonable control, USABCO reserves the right to substitute any such prize for another prize of the same or of a similar commercial value.
  12. By entering the Competition all participants agree to be bound by these Competition rules.  Any person failing to comply with these Competition rules will not be entitled to participate in this Competition or will be disqualified from the Competition.
  13. The prizes are non-transferable and are not exchangeable or redeemable for cash. To the maximum extent permitted in law, USABCO and its subsidiary and holding companies are not liable for any defects in any prizes.
  14. USABCO may, before or after the winners of the Competition have been publicly announced, require that a winner permit the use of their image and/or name in its marketing material and/or participate in its marketing activities (including endorsing, promoting and/or advertising the services of USABCO or any of its subsidiary or holding companies) ("the Invitation"). Each winner has the right to decline the Invitation. Should the winner fail to decline the Invitation by telephone (Mariken Steyn, 021 487 9000), e-mail (mariken.steyn@machineagency.co.za) or in writing to Mariken Steyn, 5th Floor Elkay House, 186 Loop Street, Cape Town, 8001 within(30) days of being notified that they are a winner of the Competition, then such winner shall be deemed to have accepted the Invitation and granted their permission and/or agreed to participate in the manner as aforesaid.
  15. 15. This Competition shall comply with, and will be subject to, any peremptory provisions of the Consumer Protection Act ("CPA") and the regulations promulgated thereunder, which are deemed to be incorporated herein ("Peremptory Provisions"). In the event of any conflict between these Competition rules and the Peremptory Provisions, the latter shall prevail. Copies of the CPA and the regulations promulgated thereunder are available on the Department of Trade and Industry Website: www.dti.gov.za.
  16. Any provision of these Rules or the Competition which is held to be invalid or unenforceable shall be ineffective to the extent of such invalidity or unenforceability without invalidating or rendering unenforceable the remaining provisions thereof.


  1. The Grand Prize excludes any costs not specified in clause 5 above, which costs are for the prize winner's account, including, without limitation, the cost of travel to and from the airport in Johannesburg, South Africa, the costs of any travel insurance, passport application, visas, vaccinations, breakfast, meals, drinks, excursions, tours and other activities.
  2. Venues and flights are subject to availability.
  3. The Grand Prize will be valid for use within the 6 (Six) month period from the date on which the winner is notified of having won the Competition in accordance with the provisions of clause 4 below. The Grand Prize winner will be required to give USABCO six weeks' notice in order to make all necessary arrangements for their usage of the Grand Prize.
  4. The Grand Prize winner will be randomly drawn on 02/12/2013, USABCO (or its marketing service provider, for and on behalf of USABCO will contact the grand prize winner via mobile telephone to notify the Grand Prize winner that they have won the Grand Prize prize.
  5. USABCO (or its marketing service provider, for and on behalf of USABCO will attempt to contact the grand prize winner for 2 weeks after the winner has been drawn. Should USABCO be unable to contact the winner after this period, a back-up winner would have been drawn and will then be contacted. This process will be followed until a winner is contacted.
  6. Once all relevant details necessary for the issue thereof have been furnished, the air-tickets and hotel vouchers in respect of the Grand Prize will be delivered to the winner at their place of residence or work.


  1. Instant Prize winners will be randomly drawn on 02 December 2013.
  2. Instant Prize winners will be notified by SMS.
  3. All Instant Prize winners will be required to phone the call centre number detailed in the SMS, follow the instructions provided to them by the call centre representative and provide any requested information and details to such call centre representative in order to redeem their instant prize. In the case of the Instant Prizes referred to in paragraphs 5(b)(i) and 5(b)(iv) above, this may include but not be limited to, providing the call centre representative with a proposed date on which the prize winner would like to redeem such Instant Prize. The date on which any Instant Prize may be redeemed is at the reasonable discretion of the supplier thereof and subject at all times to availability.
  4. All bookings for instant prizes (to the extent applicable) must be made in advance and will be made by the call center in order to ensure that all bookings for instant prizes are handled correctly. (This is essential and a pre-requisite for offer redemption.
  5. Calls made into the call center are charged at standard share call rates.
  6. Transport to and from any venue from which an instant prize may be redeemed is not included in such instant prize, and is for the winners own account.
  7. To the extent that any instant prize is evidenced by a voucher, a voucher code will be sms'd to the winner. Should the code be lost, it can be resupplied via sms.


  1. The beauty treatment prize entitles the winner to one free beauty treatment as offered by the selected service provider; provided that the winner is required to give a minimum of 7 days’ notice to the call center in order for a booking for the free pampering treatment to be made.
  2. The nature of the specific beauty treatment prize varies from service provider to service provider. The beauty treatments provided pursuant to each beauty treatment prize are as stipulated by the individual service provider and are non-negotiable.
  3. The voucher utilised to redeem a beauty treatment prize can only be used once.
  4. Only one voucher can be used at a time. Should the consumer have more than one voucher for the same prize, these will be required to be redeemed separately.

  2. Please allow for 8 to 12 weeks for your first magazine subscription to be delivered from the day that the Instant Prize is redeemed by the prize winner via the customer service line (as contemplated further above).


  1. The adventure activity prize entitles the winner to one free adventure activity at a participating adventure venue, including free entrance for the winner into such participating adventure venue. A list of the participating venues is available on request. Winners will be advised of the participating venues in their area of choice when redeeming this instant prize.
  2. The nature and availability of the free adventure activities available varies from venue to venue. The free adventure activities provided pursuant to each adventure activity prize are as stipulated by the individual venue and are non-negotiable.
  3. The voucher can only be used once and allows for only one adventure activity/free entrance to be redeemed per booking made.


  1. The free airtime prize entitles the winner to one of the following free airtime amounts: Vodacom R29, MTN R29, Cell C R25, Virgin Mobile R35, Telkom R30.
  2. Once the winner has contacted the call center, they will receive a pin-code via sms to be utilised to redeem their free airtime prize from a cell phone provider, the validity thereof is as stipulated by the respective cell phone providers.
  3. To the maximum extent permitted in law, USABCO, its holding or subsidiary companies and its directors, officers, marketing service providers, managers, employees, agents and distributors will not be liable to the prize winner for the misuse of any voucher or for any cell phone service provider declining acceptance of the airtime voucher for reasons of their own.
